Parkwood Leisure awarded contract to manage new Braywick Leisure Centre

Wednesday 11th December, 2019 - Leisure facilities operator Parkwood Leisure has won the contract to run the new Braywick Leisure Centre in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

The new lease will see Parkwood manage the site, which is set to replace Magnet Leisure Centre with a new modern community facility combining a range of leisure services under one roof.

The contract is an extension to Parkwood Leisure’s longstanding partnership with Maidenhead and Windsor Council, which has seen leisure centre uses rise - as well as a number of service improvements - across the six sites in the borough over the last four years.

Opening on Saturday 5th September 2020, Braywick Leisure Centre will provide a space for everyone to enjoy sports, arts and cultural events. It will include a 10-lane swimming pool, large training and splash pools, a state-of-the-art gym with two fitness studios and an indoor cycling studio, and a large sports hall. Outdoor facilities include six tennis/netball courts and a floodlit 3G pitch.

The facility will also include an 80-cover café, and will offer improved accessibility for disabled users and sports teams.

Cllr Samantha Rayner, lead member for leisure, said: “I am delighted that Parkwood made a successful bid for the contract. Parkwood impressed us with their vision to make Braywick Leisure Centre an amazing facility which will serve our residents for the future. They share our desire to make this an outstanding centre for sport and community use. They will also bring a fresh approach to the cafe area which is very exciting, and reflects the change in expectations and experience our residents deserve.”

Glen Hall, Managing Director of Parkwood Leisure, said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Maidenhead and Windsor Council to the new Braywick Leisure Centre. To be awarded the contract to manage what will be one of the country’s biggest leisure centres is a fantastic achievement for all involved and is testament to the great work we’ve delivered so far in the borough; we are looking forward to welcoming visitors, old and new, to what will be an iconic facility for the whole community.”
