Penzance Leisure Centre to be used as community-based blood donor venue

Penzance Leisure Centre will host blood donation sessions today (Thursday 26th March) following an emergency request from NHS Blood and Transplant.

The Parkwood Leisure facility, which is currently closed under government guidance, will turn its sports hall into a temporary blood donor centre in support of the NHS’s efforts to keep donor appointments.

Blood donation falls under essential travel in-line with the current COVID-19 essential travel guidance, and with donations vital to support the NHS and vulnerable patients in the coming weeks more than ever, members of the public are being encouraged to keep existing and continue to make future appointments.

NHS Blood and Transplant has also introduced new measures to give donors confidence about hygiene and social distancing – find out more by clicking here.
