Parkwood deliver RLSS’ Water Safety campaign

Parkwood Leisure made a splash during June taking part in Drowning Prevention Week 2019. Parkwood Leisure have attended over 150 assemblies to raise awareness for this national campaign with the RLSS. National Aquatics Lead Suzanne Gabb (also a Trustee of RLSS) personally delivered some of the assemblies for the Water Safety Passport presentation.

Drowning Prevention Week, created by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) has seen a deluge of water safety activity flood the UK and Ireland from 14 – 24 June, 2019. The national campaign aimed to ensure everyone knows how to have fun and stay safe near water, and a host of free resources have been produced to help supporters promote water safety.

More than 700 people drown in the UK and Ireland every year, that’s one every 10 hours, and many more suffer injury, sometimes life changing, when they survive drowning.

Parkwood Leisure  have been proud to play its part in trying to reduce this figure. We are delighted to be the first and only UK swimming programme to be endorsed by the RLSS and our commitment to campaigns such as the Water Safety campaign are a key role in this partnership.
