Parkwood Employee scoops excellence award at apprentice ceremony

Charlotte Wilkins picked up the award in recognition of the outstanding efforts shown during her Level 3 AAT Accounting Qualification

Monday 2nd December 2019 – Former Parkwood Leisure apprentice Charlotte Wilkins was awarded with the Excellence in Accountancy award at last week’s Hereford and Worcestershire Group Training Association (HWGTA) Annual Apprentice Awards.

HWGTA hosts its Apprentice Awards Evening every year to celebrate the achievements of its apprentices, acknowledging personal development and outstanding efforts shown by the apprentices in achieving their qualifications.

Parkwood Leisure has been one of HWGTA’s main training partners for several years, with the association providing apprentices to support at the operator’s head office in Worcester. Parkwood was also named HWGTA Employer of the Year in 2018, due to its continued support and commitment to the apprenticeship programme.

Charlotte, who is now employed as a Purchase Ledger Assistant at Parkwood, started her apprenticeship in August 2018 while also training one day a week at one of HWGTA’s sites to complete her Level 3 AAT Qualification.

After completing her accountancy qualification, along with 21 other apprentices, Charlotte was nominated for the Excellence in Accountancy Award. Throughout her apprenticeship at Parkwood, Charlotte was consistently motivated, and the perseverance displayed during her qualification made her the standout candidate.

Speaking about her apprenticeship, Charlotte said: “I have gained so much practical experience whilst being at Parkwood. I have been able to develop my skills throughout, especially through the Residential Week which improved my confidence and the way I work within a team.

“Not only did this improve my skills in the workplace, but I have managed to bring these skills in to everyday life.”

In response to Charlotte’s award, Financial Controller at Parkwood Leisure, Nicola Jones, said: “Charlotte has made a fantastic contribution to Parkwood since joining us last summer. Not only has she become an important member of the Finance team, but she also helps with other teams too with such a positive attitude.

“We are very proud to see her pick up the award and look forward to supporting her in her career development at Parkwood Leisure.”
