HENGROVE PARK LEISURE CENTRE COMPLETE REFURBISHMENT FOR REOPENING

Hengrove Park Leisure Centre has completed a £120,000 redevelopment of its centre as it welcomed its members back last month.

Parkwood Leisure has worked alongside Bristol City Council to deliver a completely renovated gym area boasting new state of the art Life Fitness equipment, the installation of a new music system and the fitting of blade runner flooring.

After initial plans were put into place for the revamp in the middle of 2020, works were approved and started in October of the same year. An initial completion date was set for January 2021 however the nationwide lockdown delayed the improvements. Nevertheless, work recommenced and the project was completed in time to welcome back members on 12 April 2021.

Members at Hengrove Park can now enjoy the improved facilities in addition to the existing 50 metre pool, four court sports hall, health suite and 8 metre climbing wall.

Glen Hall, Managing Director of Parkwood Leisure said:

“We are delighted to have welcomed our members back to a newly refurbished Hengrove Park. The aim of the project was to create a more modern feel to the centre and we feel we have done that with these improvements. We hope the new facilities will encourage more members to return to the centre in addition to those who already have.”

Guy Fishbourne, Bristol City Council’s Sports and Physical Activity Development Manager added:

“It is welcome news that the refurbishment of Hengrove Park was completed in time for the return of its members. The project demonstrates our, and Parkwood Leisure’s, commitment to helping more people to improve their health and wellbeing by getting active.”
