PARKWOOD LEISURE’S RUFFORD ABBEY WELCOMED 45,000 VISITORS IN AUGUST AS THEY LOOK AHEAD TO THE SPOOKY SEASON

Thursday 6th October, 2022 Parkwood Leisure’s Rufford Abbey in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, saw visitor attendance soar this summer, as families flocked to the Heritage site for some fun in the sun with a variety of events and summer activities. 

Visitor numbers hit 44,500 over the month of August, with families enjoying a range of activities, from archery to adventure golf, and boating on Rufford Lake.

Every Thursday to Sunday throughout the month, the Great British Beer Garden welcomed visitors of all ages, with plenty to do for adults and children alike. The Heritage site also hosted activities including Professor Paul Temple’s Famous Punch and Judy Show, the White Post Farm Petting Zoo, and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic every week.

The summer might be over, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Rufford Abbey is hosting a bevy of fun activities for the spooky season:

15th – 31st October – Halloween Monster Hunt

Just £2.50 per trail sheet, join the Rufford Monster Hunt team every day between 10am – 4pm (last sale at 3:30pm) and follow the map into the haunted hideaways and creepy woods to investigate the case of Rufford’s hair-raising happenings.

19th & 26th October – Wicked White Post Farm Wednesday

From slithering snakes to sneaky spiders, for just £2.50 per child, you’ll be able to get your hands on some creepy critters this halloween. The team will bring their usual fluffy friends for those not brave enough! Tickets will be available between 10am – 3:30pm on the day.

28th & 29th October – Witches’ and Wizards’ Breakfast and Brunch

Get a spooktacular start to the day! Gobble up witches’ fingers, scrambled eyeballs and an elixir of juice before embarking on the Rufford Abbey monster hunt. Prices start at £7.95 per child and £12.95 per adult, including entry to the monster trail. Children under three years old can join in on the fun for free.

3rd – 20th November – Spectacle of Light

The magical after-dark adventure for all the family. Take an enchanting tour and enjoy the mystical displays illuminating Rufford Abbey. Advance tickets start at just £9.90 per child and £19.80 per adult. 

Rufford Abbey is hosting a range of affordable activities this spooky season, providing fun for the whole family. 

Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham on Tuesday, Contract Manager at Rufford Abbey, Kirsty Edwards said:

“There’s so much to look forward to at Rufford Abbey over the Autumn. For Halloween we’re renowned for our Monster Hunt where families can follow a trail during October half term. There will also be the Wicked White Post Farm where children can come and view the animals and have a play. Then we’ve also got a Witches’ and Wizards’ Breakfast and Brunch on the 28th & 29th October with a range of activities ongoing and plenty for the kids to do to make a day of it!”
