PARKWOOD OUTDOORS DOLYGAER CELEBRATES OUTSTANDING 12 MONTHS WITH AWARD WINS AND NEW RENOVATIONS

The outdoor venue in the Brecon Beacons has also received nominations in the SME National Business Awards 2023, taking place in December

17 November, 2023 Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer, part of the Parkwood Leisure estate, is celebrating a hugely successful 12 months with a series of award wins, nominations, and renovations to the venue.

In October, Dolygaer won the award for “Best Day Out” at the Welsh Hospitality Awards 2023, and was highly commended in the “Outdoor Venue of the Year” category. This was the fifth annual Welsh Hospitality Awards ceremony, which celebrates and promotes the highest standards in Welsh hospitality.

The outdoor venue and activity centre also retained the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award in 2023, placing Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer in the top 10% of attractions worldwide, a testament to the quality of the experiences on offer.

The SME National Business Awards 2023, taking place on December 1st, has also recognised Dolygaer as a finalist in the “Hospitality Business of the Year”. This award looks for the businesses that exceed customer expectations, and provide a service that is consistently outstanding.

Alongside the award wins and nominations, the outdoor activity centre has completed a number of renovations throughout the last 12 months. In 2022, Dolygaer introduced a glamping section, featuring five luxurious Luna Tents. A boutique take on the traditional yurt dome tent, these tents provide protection from the weather, with views overlooking the reservoir, offering the ideal getaway for families and couples.

A newly constructed raised outdoor decking area, completed in March, offers an additional space where group briefings and activity-related discussions are conducted, with an amazing view over Pontsticill Reservoir.

In July, a new children’s play park was built as part of the activity centre. This outdoor play area is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs and imaginations of children, constructed primarily with wood to seamlessly blend with the venue’s natural surroundings while providing a safe and sturdy environment for children to play during their stay.

As part of the venue’s ongoing efforts to provide convenience to customers, the car park has been expanded to include two electric vehicle (EV) charging points and six electric hook-up points for touring and camper vans, enhancing the park’s commitment to sustainability.

Commenting on the recent award wins and renovations, Glen Hall, Managing Director at Parkwood Leisure, said:

“I am delighted to see the success that Dolygaer has had this year – the awards and nominations are recognition of the excellent services the site provides. The upgrades evidence our commitment to continually innovate the site, building on its award recognition. The team at Dolygaer do an excellent job – their hard work and dedication deliver the very best experience for our customers and guests. As the activity centre and our offerings grow, we’re looking to expand the instructional team as well as introducing three new accommodation pods for the 2024 summer season. Next year should be equally as exciting as this year!”
