Theatre Management

Our commitment to supporting local councils in reducing the costs associated with arts and culture provision in their areas remains steadfast through our theatre brand. We are dedicated to achieving this while simultaneously expanding our portfolio of public sector venues, ensuring that arts and culture are accessible to all.
Parkwood Leisure’s journey in the theatre sector began in April 2011 when we secured our first dedicated theatre venue, the Playhouse in Weston-Super-Mare. Since then, we have experienced remarkable growth, expanding our operations to encompass a total of five theatre facilities across England.
Outdoor Education & Activity Centres
Outdoor Education and access to adventurous activities play a crucial role in the positive development of young people.
Engaging in these activities has been shown to significantly improve both mental and physical health, foster social skills, boost self-esteem and self-confidence, and cultivate a stronger connection to the natural environment and environmental awareness. Recognising the benefits to both tourism and local communities, it is essential to maintain and support facilities and services in this vital sector.
Parkwood Leisure’s commitment to outdoor education was solidified in 2015 with the acquisition of the Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre from Merthyr Council. This commitment was further strengthened in 2022 through a new partnership with Sport Wales for the operation of Plas Menai. These strategic actions have enabled us to sustain these valuable facilities, alleviating the financial burden on local authorities while ensuring that outdoor education programs remain accessible to local schools and youth organisations. Furthermore, these initiatives have contributed to increased inward investment through tourism, promoting economic growth and development in the region.
Heritage and Tourist Attraction Management
A strong local cultural offer significantly improves the quality of life for residents and supports the overall health and wellbeing of communities.
We recognise that collaboration with the cultural sector, businesses, enterprises, and national and regional partners is essential to safeguard the services that are so valued by our communities. This is why we actively engage with our client partners to offer and manage a range of cultural and historical sites, including the beautiful and historic Rufford Abbey and Buxton Pavilion Gardens, the immersive Plantasia Tropical Zoo, and the Grade 2 Listed facilities at Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre.
